Appendix H opens 377 distinct tag blocks, and the sixteen V-series ranges span 422 numbering slots—so some numbers inside those spans carry no tag block; which ones is not yet in this dataset. Three further V-numbers (V126, V408, V412) appear in Appendix H only inside guidance prose, as cross-references. [4]
  20. Appendix H’s guidance prose points from tag to tag throughout the document—far more often than a first count suggests. Four of these cross-references are transcribed here: from V101, to V145 (reporting communicable diseases, Infection control), to V383 (FDA reuse reporting), and to V681 (staff licensure, Personnel qualifications); and from V144’s own guidance to V637 (tracking infections in the QAPI program). CMS wrote a graph in prose and never drew it; selecting a tag on this plate draws it. [4]
